    • 500g lean stewing steak, diced
    • 1 large onion, finely chopped
    • 2 carrots, diced

    • 400ml beef stock (made with a stock cube)
    • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Low-calorie cooking spray
  • Pastry:
    • 200g fat-free natural yogurt
    • 200g self-raising flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a large pan, spray with low-calorie cooking spray and sauté the diced steak until browned.
    • Add the chopped onion, carrots, and minced garlic. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
    • Stir in the tomato puree and beef stock. Season with salt and pepper.
    • Simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours or until the steak is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  2. Prepare the Pastry:
    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
    • In a bowl, mix the yogurt, self-raising flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt until it forms a dough.
  3. Assemble the Pie:
    • Roll out the pastry on a floured surface to fit the size of your pie dish.
    • Transfer the steak filling into the pie dish.
    • Cover the filling with the rolled-out pastry, trimming any excess.
    • Make a couple of small slits in the pastry to allow steam to escape.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden and cooked through.
  5. Serve:
    • Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice and enjoy your syn-free steak pie.
