Fish ball in air fryer

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-12 minutes
Total Time: 30-32 minutes
Servings: 4
Intensity: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (about 450g) white fish fillets (such as cod, haddock, or tilapia), deboned and skinned
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing
  • Lemon wedges and tartar sauce (for serving, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fish Mixture:
    • Pat dry the fish fillets with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Cut the fish into chunks and place them in a food processor.
    • Add breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper to the food processor.
    • Pulse the mixture until everything is well combined and forms a smooth fish paste. You can also do this manually by finely chopping the fish and mixing everything in a bowl.
  2. Shape the Fish Balls:
    • Take small portions of the fish mixture and roll them into balls using your hands. The size of the fish balls can vary based on your preference.
  3. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Grease Air Fryer Basket:
    • Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Air Fry the Fish Balls:
    • Place the shaped fish balls in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving some space between them for even cooking.
    • Air fry the fish balls at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking, until they are golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the fish balls should reach 145°F (63°C) for proper doneness.
  6. Check Doneness:
    • To check if the fish balls are cooked, cut one open to ensure that the inside is no longer translucent and is flaky.
  7. Serve:
    • Once cooked, remove the air-fried fish balls from the air fryer basket.
    • Serve the fish balls hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce on the side for dipping, if desired.

Note: You can customize the seasoning and add additional herbs or spices to the fish mixture according to your taste preferences.

Enjoy your crispy and flavorful air-fried fish balls as a delicious appetizer or snack!
