Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-12 minutes
Total Time: 30-32 minutes
Servings: 4
Intensity: Easy
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (about 450g) white fish fillets (such as cod, haddock, or tilapia), deboned and skinned
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray or oil for greasing
- Lemon wedges and tartar sauce (for serving, optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Fish Mixture:
- Pat dry the fish fillets with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Cut the fish into chunks and place them in a food processor.
- Add breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper to the food processor.
- Pulse the mixture until everything is well combined and forms a smooth fish paste. You can also do this manually by finely chopping the fish and mixing everything in a bowl.
- Shape the Fish Balls:
- Take small portions of the fish mixture and roll them into balls using your hands. The size of the fish balls can vary based on your preference.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Grease Air Fryer Basket:
- Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
- Air Fry the Fish Balls:
- Place the shaped fish balls in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving some space between them for even cooking.
- Air fry the fish balls at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking, until they are golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the fish balls should reach 145°F (63°C) for proper doneness.
- Check Doneness:
- To check if the fish balls are cooked, cut one open to ensure that the inside is no longer translucent and is flaky.
- Serve:
- Once cooked, remove the air-fried fish balls from the air fryer basket.
- Serve the fish balls hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce on the side for dipping, if desired.
Note: You can customize the seasoning and add additional herbs or spices to the fish mixture according to your taste preferences.
Enjoy your crispy and flavorful air-fried fish balls as a delicious appetizer or snack!
