Air Fryer Donuts

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 8-10 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Servings: 6-8 donuts
Intensity: Easy

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Toppings:

  • Sprinkles, chopped nuts, cinnamon sugar, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. It should be soft and slightly sticky.
  3. Shape the Donuts:
    • Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness.
    • Use a donut cutter or two round cookie cutters (one larger and one smaller) to cut out donut shapes from the dough. You should get 6-8 donuts depending on size.
  4. Air Fry the Donuts:
    • Place the donuts in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between them.
    • Air fry the donuts at 350°F (175°C) for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  5. Prepare the Glaze:
    • While the donuts are cooking, prepare the glaze. In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the milk or sugar as needed for your desired consistency.
  6. Glaze the Donuts:
    • Once the donuts are cooked and slightly cooled, dip each donut into the glaze, coating it completely.
    • Allow any excess glaze to drip off, then place the glazed donuts on a wire rack or plate.
  7. Add Toppings (Optional):
    • If using toppings like sprinkles or chopped nuts, sprinkle them over the glazed donuts while the glaze is still wet.
  8. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Let the glaze set for a few minutes, then serve your air-fried donuts warm and enjoy!

These air fryer donuts are delicious as is, but you can also experiment with different glazes and toppings to create your favorite flavors. Enjoy your homemade donuts!
