Ingredients:

For the Cabbage Rolls:

  • 1 large head of green cabbage
  • 1 pound (about 450g) ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce

For the Sauce:

  • 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cabbage Leaves:
    • Remove the core from the cabbage head. Place the whole cabbage in a large pot of boiling water for about 5 minutes or until the outer leaves are softened.
    • Carefully remove the softened outer leaves from the cabbage and set them aside to cool. Repeat the process until you have enough leaves for the number of cabbage rolls you want to make.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or turkey, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, egg, salt, black pepper, paprika, dried thyme, dried oregano, dried basil, and tomato sauce. Mix well to combine.
  3. Assemble the Cabbage Rolls:
    • Place a cabbage leaf on a flat surface. Add a spoonful of the filling mixture onto the center of the leaf. Roll the leaf tightly around the filling, folding in the sides as you roll to enclose the filling completely. Repeat with the remaining cabbage leaves and filling.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Prepare the Sauce:
    • In a bowl, mix together the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to create the sauce.
  6. Cook the Cabbage Rolls:
    • Place the stuffed cabbage rolls in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
    • Pour the prepared sauce over the cabbage rolls in the air fryer basket.
  7. Air Fry the Cabbage Rolls:
    • Air fry the cabbage rolls at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
  8. Serve: Once cooked, carefully remove the stuffed cabbage rolls from the air fryer. Serve hot, garnished with additional chopped parsley if desired.

Note: You can customize the filling by adding ingredients like grated carrots, diced bell peppers, or different herbs and spices according to your taste preferences.

Enjoy your flavorful air-fried stuffed cabbage rolls as a comforting and satisfying meal!
