Cooking Time: 25-30 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes
Servings: 4
Intensity: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds (about 900g) chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate Chicken Wings:
    • In a bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and pepper to create the teriyaki marinade.
    • Place the chicken wings in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the wings, making sure they are evenly coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour, or even overnight for more flavor.
  2. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  3. Prepare Chicken Wings:
    • Remove the marinated chicken wings from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for a few minutes.
    • If desired, you can pat the wings dry with paper towels to remove excess marinade and promote crispiness.
  4. Air Fry Chicken Wings:
    • Place the chicken wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not overcrowded. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
    • Air fry the wings at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Make Teriyaki Sauce:
    • While the wings are cooking, pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.
    • If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the boiling marinade and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
  6. Coat Wings with Teriyaki Sauce:
    • Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl.
    • Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the wings and toss to coat them evenly.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the teriyaki chicken wings for garnish (optional).
    • Serve the wings hot as a delicious appetizer or main dish, alongside steamed rice or vegetables.

Enjoy your crispy and flavorful air fryer teriyaki chicken wings! Adjust the cooking time as needed based on the size and thickness of your wings for optimal results.
