Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (225g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley or thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare Mushrooms and Onions:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced mushrooms, thinly sliced onion, olive oil, minced garlic (if using), dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Toss until the mushrooms and onions are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  3. Air Fry Mushrooms and Onions:
    • Place the seasoned mushrooms and onions in the air fryer basket in a single layer, spreading them out for even cooking.
    • Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket or stirring halfway through cooking, until the mushrooms are golden brown and the onions are caramelized and softened.
  4. Check Doneness:
    • To check if the mushrooms and onions are cooked to your liking, taste a piece of mushroom and ensure they are tender and flavorful.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once cooked, remove the sautéed mushrooms and onions from the air fryer basket.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or thyme, if desired, for a pop of color and freshness.
    • Serve the air-fried sautéed mushrooms and onions as a delicious side dish alongside grilled meats, pasta, rice, or as a topping for burgers or sandwiches.

Note: Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the size and thickness of your mushroom slices and onion slices. Adjust cooking time as needed for desired doneness and caramelization.

Enjoy your flavorful and tender air fryer sautéed mushrooms and onions! They make a great addition to many dishes or can be enjoyed on their own.
